Today we stood together on a windswept sandy beach on the outermost shores of Cape Cod. The rain kissed our noses as tears of joy rolled down our cheeks. And with the sun and the sea and the moon and the stars as our witnesses, we made our promises to one another and exchanged rings forever more.
During our round-the-world trip, we got engaged while we were in a little town by the sea in Turkey. So perhaps it is fitting we'll be stopping in Istanbul for a few days on our way to India.
(All this time we've been talking about India, we may have neglected to mention that India is actually going to be our honeymoon! Hedgehogs like to have a few secrets here and there.)
Although our ceremony was just the two of us – and the most Perfect Justice of the Peace we could have ever wished for – all of our dear friends and beloved families were there in our hearts. And so before we leave on our honeymoon (!), we wanted to share the opening passage from our wedding ceremony with each of you.
Nearly seven years ago, a boy named Timothy and a girl named Jessica met for the first time. Perhaps they met by chance or perhaps the world always intended for them to meet. But on that late November evening, that boy named Timothy and that girl named Jessica had no idea what wonder would come into their lives when they began to stand side by side.
Within only a few months of meeting, their dreams would become intertwined and their lives would be woven together. And whether by the spark of chance or the light of fate, they made for themselves a nation of two and discovered in one another a place called home.
And so it is, that in the presence of the sun and the sea and the moon and the stars, Jessica Danielle McHugh and Timothy Charles Brooke McGregor stand side by side and hand in hand today and forever more.
I just read the passage allowed to Tess and we agreed, it's perfect! Many wonderful years together!

Woo hoo!
Being the sailorly types that we are, we wish you Fair winds and following seas through your journey of life together. Always remember that you can never change the wind, but you can always adjust the sails.
Cheers!
May you two have a wonderfully safe and happy honeymoon. I can't wait to see the pics! See you two whenever our paths cross again!

I'm pretty either I said, or you read on my blog, that my husband and I went off and got married just us in Italy, I am always glad to see other folks who do the "just us" thing! It's so much more personal and special that way, I think.
Have an awesome honeymoon!
Anyway, very happy for you both, congrats and what a great beach to do it on!
