Prior to landing at the Munich airport, the pilot announced chilly conditions with a bit of rain on the ground. Even though we didn't have any umbrellas with us, we knew we'd still be heading out to explore the city for as long as we could during our 12-hour long layover on our way to South Africa. There are some things that even rain can't stop us from enjoying.
Luckily our determination to sightsee no matter the weather was rewarded. Although a few drops fell now and then, for the most part Munich was simply covered in a silky gray sky. The light was muted, but gorgeous nevertheless; and we found ourselves snapping photos like mad, so much so that we ran the battery out on our camera. Which, to be honest, might have been a good thing: sometimes it's nice to just let our eyes be cameras.
During our brief time in Munich, and later in Frankfurt, Tim and I found ourselves commenting to one another how very "German" Germany looked. I know that might sound silly, but some places match what you imagine they'll look like, and other places do not. But Germany did, and it was brilliant. And we're very much looking forward to the day we'll return again, rain or shine.

hey, you guys have made the big time… my company's firewall seems to be blocking you now! i guess they think people here might be reading your blog instead of working?
they can't stop me though! it took me forever to figure out how to use a web proxy to get to your site today, but i did it. just look at the dedication you inspire!
(At my old job they blocked Hotmail among other things…which led me on a very frantic search one day for a new email provider I could still use at work. It's amazing how being told "you can't do that" really makes you want to do exactly that!)
Thanks again for the kind comment and for reading!
…but where are the pictures of you with the beer steins?…
Ahhhh! A very important question, good sir! I shall have to add a photo of us with the beer steins to our HWB Facebook page. I'll report back when it's up.
I received and email from SN about a possible lunch or dinner date?
OOOOOOH, when?

Oh good! I was hoping she had mentioned it. Yay!
I've been coming down to Philly a bit more often when Tim goes into his office every few months. We're not sure the next time he'll be down just yet, but I'm guessing it'll be sometime in mid/late March? Or maybe early April? I'll definitely email you guys when we know for certain so we can set-up a rendezvous time.
