How addicted to travel am I that even before we went to India I was already wondering where we'd travel to in 2010? And now that we're home, it's difficult not to spend our free time plotting and planning our future adventures around the world.

Of course the more you travel, the more you realize you haven't seen in the world. Not to mention, the more you really want to go back to many of the places you've already seen.

Buenos Aires has been having a pull again on me lately. Perhaps it was a given that we would fall so hard for Argentina's Paris of South America, given it was our first stop on our round-the-world trip. But I think we would have fallen in love with it regardless. Many of the parts we haven't seen in Argentina, namely Patagonia, are intriguing too. (Although we visited Puerto Madryn and El Bolson, both of these are at the northernmost reaches of Patagonia. So places like Ushuaia and the Moreno glacier are still very much unknown to us.)

Cambodia will always have a place in my heart and I would like to see even more of that beautiful country. Of course, Turkey is always high on our list, and we'd particularly love to see the southeastern regions and parts around the Black Sea. Thailand is the home of our beloved Elephant Nature Park which – although we volunteer for them almost daily – we haven't had a chance to return to since adopting Belly in November 2006. And despite having spent more than four months in Thailand, we saw remarkably little of the entire country. (Living at an elephant sanctuary for two months tends to eat up all your travel plans.)

Little Laos got the short end of the stick during our round-the-world trip, and both Ecuador and Peru have much more to offer than we've seen to date. There are good friends and family in England, islands yet unseen in Greece, and I could live forever on the beaches of Uruguay. Needless to say our recent (and all too brief) trips to Mexico and Colombia have left us very much wanting to explore both countries much further than their capital cities alone. And don't even get me started on all of the places we dream of in India.

But then I remember how many more countries we haven't traveled to yet, how many cities we haven't explored, foods we haven't sampled, languages we haven't heard.

Over the last few months we've daydreamed about visiting Prague in the coming years. Tim has a beloved Uncle who lives there (and who I've never had the pleasure of meeting), not to mention we're both eager to visit the Czech Republic.

Speaking of family connections, there's always South Africa: the farm where Tim's father grew up has been converted into a bed and breakfast. Of course, if we go to South Africa, we'd like to be there for some time, maybe even hop into a few neighboring lands. Is this the part where I mention that we're both very eager to visit Rwanda soon? While not neighboring South Africa, of course, Rwanda is more affordable to travel to once you're in that general vicinity.

We've daydreamed a few times about returning to Istanbul (yet again!), this time with my oldest sister Sheila and her husband Jeff. We so tremendously enjoyed our time in Mexico City together, and I know that Istanbul will capture their hearts that much more. (That reminds me: we haven't yet shared that we'll be headed to Nicaragua with them later this year!)

And what about travel plans dreamed up with friends?

There's a strong possibility of a European road trip with Klaus and Secret Agent X sometime in the next few years. The plan is to take his convertible for a spin through numerous countries, seeing what trouble we can get into, and undoubtedly making memories that will last a lifetime. (We will, of course, be wearing black shades.)

We have a friend in the Netherlands who we'd love to meet up with one day. And several friends – like our dear Paul and Caroline and beloved Bex and Andy – scattered about England too. Bex and Andy have visited us twice (once in DC and once in Cape Cod) since we've returned from our trip, and it's high time we returned the favor.

One could never say life is too shabby when you can daydream endlessly about the possibilities for travel. Sure, many of our dreams may not come to pass. But I'm willing to bet a fair share of them will with a little determination, a bit of creativity, and continued savings. And I can't wait to see what the next year in travel will bring.
